War Against Sanballat
Nehemiah 4:1 But it came to
pass, that when Sanballat heard that we builded the wall, he was wroth, and
took great indignation, and mocked the Jews.
Samaria was the deadly enemy of Jerusalem; and Sanballat
was the governor of Samaria. And Sanballat was a very jealous man. He was not
content with doing his very best to make Samaria where he was governor both
prosperous and powerful, but he labored also to do his very best to keep
Jerusalem downtrodden and destroyed. Therefore when Sanballat heard that
Nehemiah had come from Shushan with a commission from King Artaxerxes of
Babylon to rebuild the walls of Jerusalem, the news made Sanballat totally
jealous and angry. Sanballat diabolically plotted and conspired with many other
people both to murder Nehemiah and to destroy the New Jerusalem.
Sanballat is an outstanding example of how the
enemy distracts us from building. Satan will always send wicked, malicious,
jealous and hostile people who will distract you from your assignments. Dear
reader, stay focus on your plans for the year. Refuse to be pulled into
unnecessary confrontation this year with people who are busy bodies and want to
derail you from you visions. Stay focused in Jesus name.
Sanballat is also an outstanding example of the
sleepless malice of all your enemies. Dear reader, never forget that while you
are working to improve your life, the enemy is also working to pull you
down. Every good work attracts
opposition from the devil and his agent. But not notwithstanding that
opposition this year whatever you purpose to build will be completed in Jesus
name.
Meditation Point
Every divine project goes on to completion, when
people have a mind to fight. The opposition of enemies should fire us up to
build, not drive us from it.
Prayer Point
The enemy is wicked, mighty, and malicious,
experienced and exciting others against me, Lord Hide me in your secret place
as I serve and honor you this year. Disappoint their secret plots against me
